Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and talented Church Music Director to lead our music ministry at Mt. Bethel Church.
The Church Music Director will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and leading the church’s music program, including the planning and execution of Sunday services, special events, and praise team rehearsals.
Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Christian worship and the ability to incorporate music into our services that enriches the worship experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate music for regular worship services, holidays, special events, and other church activities in collaboration with the pastor.
- Direct and lead the praise team, choir (if applicable), and musicians in rehearsals and performances.
- Select appropriate hymns and music that aligns with the message of the sermon.
- Arrange for guest musicians or special music when necessary.
- Provide music education and training to praise team and musicians.
- Maintain and manage the church’s music library, instruments, and equipment.
- Recruit, audition, and train new praise team/choir members and musicians.
- Encourage the congregation’s participation in singing during worship services.
- Coordinate with the church pastor or leadership to ensure the music ministry. complements the overall church mission.
- Develop and manage the music ministry budget.
- Organize musical outreach events, concerts or musical programs.
Qualifications
- A disciple of Jesus Christ, committed to an ongoing and growing relationship of intimacy with Him.
- Previous experience as a Music Director preferred.
- Degree in Music or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Christian hymns and music.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in playing at least the piano.
- Ability to read and interpret music scores.
- Ability to work with a diverse team in a friendly manner.
- Flexibility to work during weekends, evenings, and special events.
- A desire to be a part of the Mt Bethel Church family.
